Welcome to jax511.com! You can use the map on the home page to check for up-to-date traffic information all over Northeast Florida. Here are a few tips to help get you started:

When you first visit jax511.com, the map will look similar to this:




1. Sizing the map

Use the scale in the upper-right section of the map to zoom in closer to the area you wish to see. Adjust the size one of two ways:

  1. Click on the + and – boxes

  2. Click and drag the pointer on the scale up or down


2. Moving the map

You can move (reposition) the map one of two ways:

  1. Use the arrow buttons that are right below the scale in the upper-right corner. Click on them to move the map so it shows the area you want to see.

  2. Use your cursor to click on the map itself and drag it in any direction.


3. Choosing what to see

With jax511.com, you can choose to see any or all of several traffic indicators by clicking on the “My Map Preferences” tab on the lower left corner of the map. When you click on it, a box pops up to show many picture-icons with boxes next to them (see image below). Click on or off of the boxes to see what you want….these will be your “map preferences.” For example, in the preferences box below, the user is choosing to see Cameras, Construction, Congestion, Lane Closures, Incidents, and Detours.


After you finish choosing your preferences, click on the “My Map Preferences” tab to drop it down again. Anytime you want to add or take icons off the map, just click on the tab and select the boxes. (Clicking on a box with a check mark will remove the check mark from the box.)


4. Getting more details
After these boxes have been selected, the picture-icons you choose will appear on the map wherever those preferences are located. When you place your cursor over an icon, a box will appear explaining that occurrence; in the case of the cameras a real-time image from that exact location will appear. (If you like, you may click on the icon to leave the box up without keeping your icon over it. To take away the box, click the small “x” in its upper-right corner.)
